The Application Process is So Broken

Applying for a job shouldn’t feel like filing your taxes — but for too many top candidates, it does. A new report shows 57% of applicants abandon job applications because they’re long, redundant, or unclear. Every extra click costs employers qualified talent.

The fix?

Simplify. Trim unnecessary questions, skip the cover letter unless it truly matters, and don’t make people retype their entire resume.

Write job descriptions that are clear, concise, and transparent — especially about salary.

And if a candidate stalls mid-application, follow up like you would with a customer who left something in their cart.

The companies winning the war for talent aren’t the ones with the fanciest platforms — they’re the ones making it easy for great people to say yes.
